My one word New Year’s resolution

I’m not big on New Year’s resolutions. They feel cheap. More commercial then practical. Like something you buy in a gift shop.

But today I did see #oneword2019 trending on Twitter, where you choose one word to focus on throughout the year. Words like “relationships” or “smile.” And I thought this might be a simple yet meaningful resolution I could get behind.

To do this, I created a list of potential words.

Then I mined through the list and picked the one word that just felt right. The one word I felt reflects who I am right now and best projects the person I want to become.

I chose “growth”. But quickly realized “grow” is easier to use in sentences. So I’ll go with “grow”.

In 2019, I want to mentally and physically grow stronger. I also want to grow as a writer, thinker, teacher, husband, and a father.

Your turn. What’s your one word for 2019?

Happy New Year!

Be well,
Jay
